- Gumby belongs to the ovarian tumour (OTU) domain-containing protease family of deubiquitinases (DUBs) that catalyze the removal of ubiquitins from ubiquitinated proteins
- Gumby is reported to associate with linear ubiquitin assembly complex (LUBAC) and counteract LUBAC activity by removing linear ('Met-1'-linked) polyubiquitin chains from substrate proteins
- The gumby–LUBAC axis plays an important role in angiogenesis, craniofacial and neuronal development by regulating canonical Wnt signalling.
