- Rad54 belongs to the SWI/SNF family of chromatin remodeling proteins
- Rad54 undergoes cell cycle-dependent phosphorylation, nuclear matrix and chromatin association, and is implicatetd in playing a role in gene regulation during interphase and mitosis
- ATRX mutations are associated with an X-linked mental retardation (XLMR) syndrome
- most often accompanied by alpha-thalassemia syndrome, as a result of diverse changes in DNA methylation.
