Description
- General description: Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor (M-CSF) is a hematopoietic growth factor, which modulates the proliferation, differentiation and functional activation of monocytes.[1] It is produced by fibroblasts, endothelial cells and bone marrow stromal cells.[2] MCSF stimulates the functions of mature monocytes and macrophages.[1]
- Application: Macrophage Colony-Stimulating Factor human has been used for the differentiation of bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs)[3] and human monocyte-derived macrophages (MDMs).[4] It has also been used for cell culture.[5]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) augments many of the physiological functions of macrophages, and support osteoclast differentiation.
- Other Notes: 159 amino acids including N-terminal methionine (each monomer).
- Physical form: Lyophilized from a sterile filtered buffered solution.
- Analysis Note: The proliferative activity is tested in culture using the cytokine-dependent murine monocytic cell line M-NFS-60 cells.
