- General description: 16-NBD palmitic acid (16-NBD) is a fluorescent lipid.[1] NBD fluorophore (7-nitrobenzenz- 2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl) elicits visible range fluorescence.[1]
- Application: Palmitic acid - NBD may be used as fluorophore in lipid formulations for fluorescent labeling of nanoparticle (NP) to trace localization in skin sections.[1]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: 16-NBD palmitic acid has been used in nanoparticle localization studies.[1] NBD fluorophore (7-nitrobenzenz- 2-oxa-1,3-diazol-4-yl) is used in generating fluorescent phospholipids and its conjugate in lipids is useful as a quencher in membrane phase separation studies.[2]
