• Grow a wide variety of microorganisms with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Peptone Water (Dehydrated)
• This basal medium is used as a growth and non-selective enrichment medium or as the basis of carbohydrate fermentation media
• A pure culture in Peptone Water is a convenient inoculum for a series of fermentation tubes or other diagnostic media
• This medium is based on the formulation of Shread, Donovan, and Lee 1
• It may be used for isolation of Enterobacteriaceae from foods 2
• Peptone Water is recommended for studying the ability of an organism to ferment a specific carbohydrate, which aids in the differentiation of genera and species
• Peptone Water, adjusted to pH 8.4, is suitable for the cultivation and enrichment of Vibrio cholerae from infected material
• Peptone Water may be modified for use in carbohydrate fermentation tests by the addition of Andrade’s indicator
• Cultivate non-fastidious organisms using this minimal all-purpose medium
