- Description: This AD2.38 monoclonal antibody reacts with human, mouse, and rat Pax6
- This 47-kDa transcription factor is expressed during embryonic neurogenesis in the brain and central nervous system, as well as in neuroepithelial cells of the retina
- Pax6 is involved in development of the eyes, nose, central nervous system, pancreas, and pituitary gland
- Studies also demonstrate that Pax6 is crucial for alpha-cell differentiation and glucagon biosynthesis in the pancreas
- Mutation of Pax6 results in eye disorders such as aniridia in humans and Small eye in mice
- Applications Reported: This AD2.38 antibody has been reported for use in immunoblotting (WB) and immunocytochemistry
- Applications Tested: This AD2.38 antibody has been tested by immunocytochemistry of fixed and permeabilized MV+ cells
- This antibody can be used at less than or equal to 5 μg/mL
- It is recommended that this antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest
- Purity: Greater than 90%, as determined by SDS-PAGE
- Aggregation: Less than 10%, as determined by HPLC

- This gene encodes paired box gene 6, one of many human homologs of the Drosophila melanogaster gene prd
- In addition to the hallmark feature of this gene family, a conserved paired box domain, the encoded protein also contains a homeo box domain
- Both domains are known to bind DNA, and function as regulators of gene transcription
- This gene is expressed in the developing nervous system, and in developing eyes
- Mutations in this gene are known to cause ocular disorders such as aniridia and Peter's anomaly
- Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding either the same or different isoform have been found for this gene.
