- Hormone-bound GR translocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleus where it regulates gene transcriptions by binding to glucocorticoid response elements (GREs) or by interacting with various transcription factors
- Alternatively, hormone-bound GR can repress gene transcriptions by blocking the nuclear translocation of transcription factors
- GR is composed of a modulating domain and a DNA-binding domain at its N-terminal, and a ligand-binding domain at the C-terminal.
