  • Target description: Junction plakoglobin (UniProt: P14923; also known as Catenin gamma, Desmoplakin III, Desmoplakin-3) is encoded by the JUP (also known as CTNNG, DP3) gene (Gene ID: 3728) in human. -catenin and β-catenin are homologous proteins that share characteristic structural features with a central armadillo repeat domain flanked by the carboxyl and amino terminal domains. They function in cell-cell junctions when coupled with cadherins. -catenin is a homodimeric protein that is a component of an E-cadherin/catenin adhesion complex. It is present in adherens junctions and desmosomes where it interacts with desmoglein and desmocollin. The presence of -catenin in both the desmosomes and in the intermediate junctions suggests that it plays a central role in the structure and function of submembranous plaques. In β-catenin knockout (KO) mice -catenin is reported to compensate for β-catenin loss at adherens junction without affecting desmosomes but it is unable to fulfill functions in Wnt signaling. It can also bind to LEF-1 and, when overexpressed in mammalian cells, enhances LEF-1-directed transcription. However, the -catenin and LEF-1 complex may not be efficient in binding DNA or in forming a ternary complex containing LEF-1 and the LEF-1-binding DNA sequences. Overexpression of -catenin does not directly activate transcription but may induce transcription indirectly by elevating the level of endogenous β-catenin by blocking degradation of β-catenin in the cytoplasm.   • Physical form: Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS, 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 μL.
  • Reconstitution: 300 μg/mL after reconstitution at 25 μL per vial. Please refer to guidance on suggested starting dilutions and/or titers per application and sample type.
  • Storage and Stability: Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 μL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
