Description

  • Specifically detects FMO5 in Human, Rat samples, and it is validated for Immunohistochemistry, Western Blotting Dimethylaniline monooxygenase [N-oxide-forming] 5 (EC 1.14.13.8; UniProt P49326; also known as Dimethylaniline oxidase 5, FMO 5, Hepatic flavin-containing monooxygenase 5) is encoded by the FMO5 gene (Gene ID 2330) in human
  • FMO5 belongs to the family of Flavin-containing monooxygenase (FMO) genes that encode ER membrane flavin-containing monooxygenases
  • Humans possess five functional FMO genes (FMO1 to FMO5)
  • FMO 1, 2 and 3 catalyze NADPH-dependent oxygenation of a wide array of foreign chemicals, while little is known about FMO 4 expression, substrates or activity
  • FMO 5 is highly expressed in the liver in human and murine species
  • FMO 5 is known to catalyze the N-oxygenation of short-chain aliphatic primary amines (e.g., N-octylamine) and the S-oxygenation of S-methyl-esonarimod, an active metabolite of the anti-rheumatic esonarimod
  • FMO 5 is also demonstrated to catalyze a Baeyer-Villiger oxidation reaction
  • However, FMO 5 exhibits little or no activity towards classic FMO substrates, such as methimazole, trimethylamine, and benzydamine
  • Fmo5 gene disruption in mice is reported to result in slowed metabolic aging via pleiotropic effects.
