- Defects in dysferlin function/expression leads to muscular dystrophies (dysferlinopathies) that include Miyoshi myopathy (MM), limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2B (LGMD-2B), and distal myopathy with anterior tibial onset (DMAT).
