- Specifically detects Semaphorin 4D/CD100 clone: BMA-12 in Mouse samples, and it is validated for Activity Assay, Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry, Immunoprecipitation, Western Blotting Semaphorin 4D (alson known as CD100, Sema J, M-sema G, Semaphorin H, Semaphorin-J, Semaphorin-C-like 2) is a single-transmembrane protein encoded by the Sema4d gene in mouse
- Semaphorins are involved in a wide range of biological processes, including axon guidance, neuronal migration, angiogenesis, cardio- and osteo-genesis, via interaction with a family of transmembrane proteins called Plexins expressed on other cells
- Semaphroins and Plexins interact via their conserved sema domains, each sema domain forms a seven-blade beta-propeller fold in the extracellular domain of the respective protein
- Semaphorin 4D extracellular domain can also be cleaved off and function in soluble form
- Estrogen-stimulated Sema4D shedding is important for apoptosis induction of Plexin-B1-expressing vaginal epithelium during postnatal tissue remodeling (PMID 24841081)
- In addition, MT1-MMP-mediated Sema4D shedding is reported to induce endothelial cell chemotaxis in vitro and blood vessel growth in vivo and forms the basis of tumor-induced angiogenesis among several head and neck squamous cell carcinoma cell lines (PMID 17204469)
- Interference of cell communication between Sema4D-expressing osteoclasts and PlexinB1-expressing osteoblasts is reported to be therapeutically beneficial in a murine model of osteoporosis (PMID 25088728 & 25252878).
