- Specifically detects Aminopeptidase N/CD13 clone: SL13 in Mouse samples, and it is validated for Activity Assay, Immunocytochemistry, Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin) Aminopeptidase N (APN), also known as CD13 or Alanyl Aminopeptidase, is the protein product of the ANPEP gene
- APN is a membrane-bound zinc metalloproteinase that catalyzes the cleavage of N-terminal amino acids and is involved in several biological processes including antigen processing and presentation, cell adhesion, tumor invasion and metastasis, neurotransmitter degradation
- Widely expressed in many tissues and cells, including kidney, intestine, and respiratory tract; granulocytes, monocytes, fibroblasts, endothelial cells, cerebral pericytes at the blood-brain barrier, synaptic membranes of cells in the CNS, as well as in endometrial stromal cells, but not in the endometrial glandular cells
- It is also found in the vasculature of tissues that undergo angiogenesis and in malignant gliomas and lymph node metastases from multiple tumor types but not in blood vessels of normal tissues
- An elevation of the soluble form is found to be elevated in plasma and effusions of cancer patients
- Elevated APN level in urine is also used in the diagnosis of kidney damages, such as that resulted from graft rejection after renal transplantation
- APN is also known as a receptor for human coronavirus.
