- 18-38, 60-74, 86-111, 242-266) tetraspanin superfamily member with both its N- and C-terminal ends exposed cytoplasmically (a.a
- 1-17, 267-281)
- While most tetraspanins are ubiquitously expressed, CD37 is predominently expressed on antigen-presenting cells, with highest expression on B lymphocytes
- CD37 is essential for B cell survival and Cd37-/- mice showed greatly reduced IgG-secreting plasma cells in lymphoid organs due to increased apoptosis in the spleen germinal centers, where B cells proliferate
- On the other hand, CD37 is also found to play a negative role against T cell proliferation, macrophages interleukin-6 production, and dendritic cells (DCs) antigen presentation.
