- Cofilin plays a central role in regulating actin filament turnover and actin cytoskeletal remodelling by severing and depolymerizing actin filaments
- Cofilin activity is negatively regulated by LIM kinases-catalyzed Ser3 phosphorylation
- The Slingshot family members include SSH-1L, SSH-2L, SSH-3L, and chronophin
- The members differ in their subcellular distribution, F-actin-binding activity, and phosphatase activity, implying related but member-specific functions.
