- Specifically detects PhosphoDetect™ p53 (pSer 15 ) Clone: in Human, Mouse, Rat samples, and it is validated for Immunoprecipitation p53 tumor suppressor proteins play a key role in cellular defense against DNA damaging agents
- p53 is phosphorylated at multiple sites in vivo and by several different protein kinases in vitro
- DNA damage results in the phosphorylation of p53 at Ser 15 , leading to the reduced interactions of p53 with its negative regulator, the oncoprotein MDM2
- p53 can be phosphorylated by ATM, by ATR, and by the DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK) at Ser 15
- This impairs the ability of MDM2 to bind p53 and promotes both the accumulation and functional activation of p53 in response to DNA damage.
